How to use it
Write it, see it, tighten it.
Two lines decide whether someone clicks. Make sure neither is cut mid-thought.
- 1
Paste your title and description
Start from what is on the page now. The example shows a Denver plumber's service page; clear it to start fresh.
- 2
Watch the meters
Both meters measure pixels, as Google does: the title against about 580px on desktop, the description against about 920px. Each turns red when you are over.
- 3
Fix what gets cut
Move the service and the place to the front, drop filler words, and copy the final text into your CMS's SEO fields.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Google cuts desktop titles by width, not by characters: about 580 pixels, which is usually 50 to 60 characters. Wide letters (W, M) use more of it than narrow ones (i, l), which is why the preview measures pixels. Put the service and the place first so the important words survive a cut.
