Wix
Connect Wix to Citeca and publish articles automatically.
Connect Wix and Citeca publishes finished articles straight into it — live, or as drafts for you to review first.

What we touch
Blog posts only
Note
This connection can only read and publish blog posts. Your theme, products and settings are never modified.
What you need#
- The site OWNER’s Wix account — keys made by co-owners or collaborators are rejected with a 403
- The Wix Blog app added to the site, with at least one post
- An API key with Wix Blog and Wix Contacts & Members permissions, and site access that includes this site
The key needs two permissions — Blog and Contacts & Members
Wix issues keys from your account settings, not the site dashboard. Under Permissions → All site permissions, turn on Wix Blog *and* Wix Contacts & Members — every Wix post is owned by a site member, so a Blog-only key authenticates and then fails every publish with a members 403. Also pick All sites (or include this site) when asked, or the key is rejected.
Generating the key needs email verification
When you click Generate Key, Wix emails a verification code. Enter it, then Verify & Generate Key. The key that appears is long, spans several lines, and starts with IST. — copy the whole thing. Wix shows it only once.
Connecting Wix#
Open Settings → Publishing, find Wix and press Connect. The wizard walks you through the steps below.
- 1
Before you start
Two quick checks — they prevent the errors people hit most.
- Confirm: I can sign in as the Wix site’s account owner
- Your site needs the Wix Blog app added, with at least one post — otherwise setup fails with “No blog instanceId found”.
- You’ll create one API key (Blog + Contacts & Members) and paste it here.
Heads up
This connection can only read and publish blog posts. Your theme, products, and settings are never touched. The API key must be created in the site OWNER’s account — keys made by co-owners or collaborators are rejected by Wix with a 403.
- 2
Find your Site ID
It’s the long ID in your dashboard address — not your account id.
- Open your site’s dashboard and look at the browser address bar.
- It looks like manage.wix.com/dashboard/01c24d92-2ba6-48bd-90cd-87e33d2e9957/home — copy everything between /dashboard/ and the next slash.
- 3
Create your API key
Generate it in the owner account, with Blog and Contacts & Members access.
- Click Generate API Key (top right) and name it, e.g.
- Under Permissions, expand All site permissions and turn on both:
- If Wix asks which sites the key can access, pick All sites (or make sure your site is included).
Heads up
Two things Wix trips people on: the key needs BOTH permissions below (every post needs a member as its author), and its site access must include this site. A key limited to other sites is rejected with a 403.
- 4
Verify your email & copy the key
Wix confirms your identity before it shows the key.
- Click Generate Key, then Send Code — Wix emails you a 6-digit verification code.
- Enter the code, then click Verify & Generate Key.
- Click Copy Token & Close to copy the whole key. It’s long and starts with
Heads up
Wix shows this key only once — copy it before leaving the page.
- 5
Paste your credentials
We verify them with Wix on connect (by creating and instantly deleting a test draft), so a green check means publishing genuinely works.
- Wix API key — Paste it whole — Wix only shows it once.
- Site ID — The GUID from your dashboard URL, after /dashboard/.
- 6
Live or draft?
This decides whether new articles go public automatically or wait for review. You can change it later by reconnecting.
- Publish immediately — Articles go live on your Wix blog as soon as they’re generated.
- Save as draft — Articles arrive as drafts in Wix for you to review and publish yourself.
Wix is connected
We can reach your Wix blog. Your first articles are being prepared — they’ll appear automatically when they’re ready.
Check it worked#
Verify it’s working
3 checks
- The Wix card shows Connected.
- The article appears in the Blog section of your Wix dashboard.
- Opening it on your live site shows headings and images intact.
To test without waiting for a scheduled article, open any finished article in Blog content and press Publish. You get a result per destination immediately, including the exact error if something is wrong.
Managing the connection#
Once connected, the Wix card shows a green Connected dot and a Manage button. Everything about the connection is changed from there — there are three controls.
- Test connection — checks the credentials against Wix right now. If they fail you get the platform’s own response, not a generic message.
- Reconnect — walks through the setup again. This is how you paste a rotated token, publish somewhere else, or change whether articles go live or wait as drafts. It replaces what is stored rather than adding a second connection.
- Disconnect — deletes the stored credentials and stops publishing. Articles already published stay on your site untouched, and your drafts and schedule in Citeca are kept.
Note
When something fails you get a plain explanation and the steps to fix it. The platform’s own response — status code, endpoint and response body — is folded away under Details for support; “Copy error report” puts all of it in one paste for a support message.
TroubleshootingQuestions#
Where do I find the Site ID?
It is in your site’s dashboard address — everything after /dashboard/ and before the next slash. Example: manage.wix.com/dashboard/01c24d92-2ba6-48bd-90cd-87e33d2e9957/home → 01c24d92-2ba6-48bd-90cd-87e33d2e9957.
“No blog instanceId found” during setup?
Your Wix site doesn’t have a blog yet. Add the Wix Blog app (and create at least one post), then reconnect.
Wix rejected the key (403 / permission error).
Three common causes: the key is missing the Wix Blog or Wix Contacts & Members permission; the key was created by a co-owner or collaborator rather than the owner; or the key’s site access is limited to sites that don’t include this one. Generate a fresh owner key with both permissions and All-sites access, then paste it under Manage → Reconnect.
My key looks broken — it spans several lines.
That’s normal for Wix. Keys are long, wrap across lines, and start with IST. — paste the whole thing. Make sure you completed the email verification step when generating it.
Can I change publish status later?
Yes — open Manage on the Wix card and switch between Publish immediately and Save as draft.
Where do I change whether articles go live or stay as drafts?
Press Manage on the connection’s card in Settings → Publishing, then Reconnect, and answer the live-or-draft step differently. It applies to that connection only, so your other destinations are unaffected.
What happens if I regenerate the credentials?
The old ones stop working immediately and publishing fails with an authentication error. Press Manage on the card, then Reconnect, and paste the new ones — that replaces the old credentials rather than adding a second connection.
Can I disconnect without losing published articles?
Yes. Disconnecting only deletes the credentials we stored. Everything already published stays exactly where it is, because those are posts in your own CMS.
Will publishing the same article twice create a duplicate?
No. Articles are matched on their slug, so republishing updates the existing post rather than adding a second one.
